Influenced by Abstract expressionists, art has always been a source for self-expression for her. While trying to find a place, ceramics found its way to her through an intro class at Sheridan College and quickly became a main source of output. Its ability to be reclaimed and then become permanent after being fired provides a duality that allows one to be able to document and grow with the clay. Having spent most of her life experimenting with different creative outlets such as drawing, painting, and even furniture design for a short period, she has found a home in ceramics.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Expressiveness and momentum are the fundamentals of my work. Layered with colour, texture, and symbols, my work represents my own emotions and how I express myself. Constantly changing and moving alongside me. The work presents itself in both sculptural and functional pieces.
