Museum @ Medalta
Medalta is an innovative industrial museum, contemporary ceramic arts facility, art gallery, and community hub located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. This once static museum has been transformed into a dynamic space that activates community and inspires change.
Experience the museum while you walk the factory floors and run your hands along the brick walls that hold the stories of our industrial history. Or you could spend your time in our contemporary galleries where you can see creations from local, regional, and international artists. And finally, spend time in our gift shop where you can purchase items made by our skilled artisans using clay mined within 200 km of our facilities.
Set against the dramatic cliffs of the South Saskatchewan River in Medicine Hat Alberta, the 150-acre Historic Clay District is situated on Treaty 7 land and was once home to some of the earliest industry in Western Canada. Today the history of the once-thriving ceramic industry is being revived with the iconic Medalta Potteries National Historic Site providing a contemporary setting to experience our shared heritage.
