May 15, 2019My name is Taylor Goldsbrough, I am a ceramics artist born and raised in Montréal, Québec. In 2017 I moved to Oakville, Ontario, to attend Sheridan College, in the Ceramics program. I was first inspired by a friend’s suggestion to enrol in a beginner throwing class in Cegep. I immediately fell in love with clay and pots. From there, I kept taking classes outside of school and my passion grew deeper and deeper. Through Sheridan I have been able to create on a whole other level in an amazing open and collaborative environment. I am very grateful for Ceramics.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I still consider myself very new to clay and the ceramic community, in general. I feel as though I am trying to find my true voice and aesthetic in my work. I am constantly experimenting and finding what aspects of the art that I love and which I am not as fond of. I am testing the limitations of materials, glazes, firing techniques, but also the potential of these same aspects. I consider myself to mainly be a wheel thrower, but through my schooling I have taken a liking to more sculptural and hand built pieces and work.
