ARTIST STATEMENT
Alexandra Box relies on clay as her primary material source, her work is in dialogue with the traditions within dreamwork. Alexandra’s crude approach to form provokes utility towards its most abstract and convoluted use. The work is concerned with the histories of both craft and erotics, as well as the vernacular which encompasses them. Alexandra’s writing practice is built from the intertwining histories of disability, mysticism, nudism and homosexuality— linages which describe aspects of her own bloodline. Having pursued several positions in book lending, selling, and making initiatives, she approaches writing as an extension of this trade
