January 5, 2018Tucker Chambers is a senior at The University of Montana in Missoula Montana. Growing up in Whitefish Montana, Tucker spent most of his time in the woods and draws on these experiences heavily in his work. Studying the ways nature constructs itself had a lasting effect on him. Originally coming to school to study painting, Tucker quickly transitioned into sculptural work before landing on ceramics a few years later. Working now mainly in ceramics, his art has continued to progress conceptually towards reflections on our interactions with the natural world.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am mainly working with large ceramic sculptures. My goal is to explore the relationship between organic forms both present in the world and those I create. Over time my sculptures have moved from imitating real world objects to mimicking the idea of them. As I progress forward I am working toward bringing the lifelike and abstract together into one cohesive body.
