ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an emerging interdisciplinary artist working in ceramics, installation, sculpture, fiber and drawing. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I am deeply interested in the land, natural resources and sustainable art practices. Having the opportunity to travel has greatly impacted my work, and traveling coast to coast across Canada has forged a deep connection between the materials I use in my work and the land from which they come. My work is grounded in the natural world pulling from my roots in environmental science, sustainability and ethical use of harvested natural materials. My work is inspired by many things, including craft, function, the land, the places and people I call home, and the footprints left in the mud after a good rainfall. I treasure the handmade, the organic forms that come from nature and a really good mug handle.
