January 21, 2022Believe it or not, our Reception Hall is almost fully booked for Summer 2022. We can’t believe it either! After a couple of years of waiting for the world to return to normal, couples are ready to walk down the aisle, and they are booking things as soon as possible. We are so grateful to see these dates fill up, but if you’re hoping to tie the knot next year, don’t fret! Weddings in the Fall, Winter, or Spring have many benefits and we have dates available for you. Here’s some of the best reasons to consider a dreamy winter wonderland wedding:
Less Competition for Your Date with Vendors
Had your heart set on July 23 and that one photographer who does magic with the camera? So did the newly engaged couple who booked them for that date a week ago! Unless you begin booking some vendors like your venue, DJ, caterer, or decorator a year in advance, there is a high likelihood that they have a prior booking during the busy summer months. From November to April, you have a better chance of booking your top choices (including your top venue, which is of course, Medalta).
Price Breaks
Oftentimes tourism and wedding related industries will have higher prices in the summer, making accommodations and travel expenses more strenuous for guests (hello, have you seen the gas prices lately!?). Additionally, some of your venues may offer discounts during certain months that you can take advantage of. For instance, we offer a 10% discount on our venue in the months of January, February, and March.
Unique Photo Opportunities
Sure, having green grass and trees in your background is nice, but there is something so striking and whimsical when you can use the beautiful Fall foliage to your advantage, or soft snow falling, or the awakening of Spring flowers. Many of the best wedding images we have seen have happened in the dead of winter, at night, with nothing but a silhouette and a pretty snow fall.
The Weather is Still Great
A real advantage of Medicine Hat is the 330 days of sunshine we get every year, meaning that no matter the season, you have a high likelihood of great weather. This is helpful in more than one way! Guests who don’t handle the Southern Alberta heat well will be much more comfortable during the Fall or Spring. Grooms and groomsmen in full suits will also be more comfortable in fairer weather. Bridal makeup and hair tend to stay better and look fresh far into a night of dancing when you aren’t outside in the heat. If you’re planning a winter wedding, there’s definitely not going to be any rain on your wedding day!
Your Event Will Stand Out
During the thick of the wedding season, some popular folks will end up at multiple weddings in a month, resulting in ‘wedding fatigue’. ‘Was that John and Mary who had the donut wall at their wedding? Or was that Abby and Mark? Do you remember what we had for supper at that last wedding, because I don’t!’. Less weddings in your wedding month means a more special day for you and a more exciting event for guests, who probably haven’t gotten to do the Y.M.C.A .with Great Aunt Edna in months.
