Intermediate Pottery Class with Danya Mayne

Spring is just around the corner, and there is no better time to create something beautiful for your plants or garden!

In this intermediate-level pottery class, you will design and throw your own large terracotta planter from scratch. These timeless, natural clay planters are perfect for brightening up your home, patio, or garden for the season ahead.

This is a warm, welcoming studio experience designed for makers who are ready to build on their existing wheel skills and take on a slightly bigger challenge.

🌸 Is This Class for You?

This class is for students who already have previous wheel throwing experience.

You should feel comfortable:

• Centering clay independently
• Pulling up even walls
• Creating basic cylinder forms

Because we will be working on larger pieces, a strong foundation on the wheel is essential. If you are unsure whether this level is right for you, please reach out to us at (403) 529-1070 before registering.

🌿 What You Will Learn

Led by ceramic artist Danya Mayne, you will:

• Learn how to throw larger forms using a supportive coil technique
• Gain confidence scaling up your wheel work
• Work with rich, earthy terracotta clay
• Create a finished planter up to approximately 40 cm tall

Your final piece will feature a classic natural terracotta surface, left unglazed for that warm, timeless look that pairs beautifully with greenery.
