ARTIST STATEMENT
I work in both clay and wood, two earthly materials which provide a plethora of options for making things. Through design and craftspersonship, I strive to create functional objects that work well and encourage contemplation. My work is a derivative of my fascinations with the natural world and functional domestic objects. Using landscapes and natural resource dependence as inspiration for surface and concept, I craft objects that also speak to the state of our environment. My hope is to inspire users to reflect on their eco-footprints and the many ways in which our lives impact the world around us.
