October 4, 2019The introduction into ceramic is part of an extended art practice, dating back to 1999/2000. Primarily it is based of drawing and conceptual art. It expanded into sculpture as I began to draw on different materials, at this juncture I started to experiment with ceramic in 2008. My work since then has been produced via the Shadbolt center and the Glasgow ceramics studio, as well as when I was a member of the trout lake ceramics club. My main constraint has been accessing facilities to produce large scale figurative works. To date I have had private commissions and studio exhibitions.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice is sculptural and figurative in nature as opposed to a strictly ceramicist background, I previously used different materials, but ceramic has become a pivotal element in my practice.
I am interested in extending my skillset to incorporate new methods as well as refine existing ones. though primarily interested in figurative and abstracted work my interest is also to expand into ceramic tile and ware as a component of my practice.
I want to concentrate on the body of work I have begun in BC and am interested in collaborations and meeting people in the community to share knowledge.
