ARTIST STATEMENT
“I use clay as a narrative material and love working with the surfaces and textures. I’m fascinated how expressive the human body can be as a form and how we say so much with our body without the need of words. Animals do also emerge and I see them as a connection between humans and nature. I do draw inspiration from mythology and folklore and often use symbolism in my work. I leave most of the interpretation of my work to the viewer, but it tells stories from my everyday life and the figures live their own life on the edge of reality. I have a passion for woodfiring and the atmospheric firing together with the ash give my sculptures unpredictable surfaces and brings them alive. I love the collaboration with the fire and the kiln and I do enjoy to travel all over the world to fire different kind of woodkilns together with lovely and talented ceramic people.”
