ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a potter who started working with clay forty years ago. I am interested in fine craft and the joy I find in being a maker, I also want to expand my art practice. I want to go beyond the functional object and address other concepts and issues in my work.
As a craftsperson, primarily working in wheel thrown vessels and coming from a long ceramic tradition, I am concerned with form, surface, and function, having a strong connection with my materials. As a visual artist I am attempting to communicate, hoping to elicit a response from the viewer.
