Astrid Kruse studied photography at the Albert College of Art and DesignI and took her first pottery class in 1986 through the Yellowknife Arts and Crafts Guild. For several years following she actively pursued ceramic courses through Red Deer Community College and the Metchosin International Summer School for the Arts (MISSA). Currently, she teaches courses at the community level and has organized workshops and assumed leadership roles in the Aurora Arts Society. Her work is available for sale in several art galleries in Yellowknife and she annually hosts Art sales in Yellowknife.

She has exhibited her work at venues as diversified at the Great Northern Arts Festival in Inuvik, NT; Down To Earth Gallery and the Birchwood Gallery in Yellowknife; Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany and the George Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto, Ontario.
