Adam Gibson Bernath was born and raised in Woodstock, Ontario. Drawn to making art from a young age, he has always been creatively inclined. Embracing art as his joy and his strength, he chose to study Drawing and Ceramics at the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary. After completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004, he traveled to South Korea and Thailand where he explored widely, absorbing the beautiful ceramic history and culture. Adam continues to strengthen his practice of the art of pottery and to share his enthusiasm with all.
My mission is to enrich life and to raise human consciousness. I work to achieve this through the creation of functional art. From my earliest involvements with ceramics, I have been most interested in functional pottery. I have been drawn to making art objects that serve to enrich daily life, works that can be intimately utilized in daily rituals, allowing deeper connection to awareness. I believe handmade pottery can bring a sacred presence to our lives when we take the time to brew some tea, and appreciate the human energy that has been transmitted through the vessels we engage with.
